Acrostic Poem For The Word Intelligence
Wordpress, the CMS of choice for posts when we have a server. Compare with Wordpress.com not have much sense because it is clear that the limitations of the free version of Blogger.com leaving it behind. We must also say that the fact that Wordpress have it in your own server and gives you much advantage over Google's service, however I think a lot of things that are missing from Blogger that can be implemented with a little more activity by the development team.
features and functions that I think are missing from Blogger to be like Wordpress are 1. File hosting.
Currently both css and javascript must be placed on the same template, which slows down your load or housed in a third party service, which often limit the bandwidth.
2. Community development. Despite being one of the most used blogging platforms in the world, does not have a developer community around it, the few improvements from the official development team and this creates a much slower evolution than does Wordpress. 3. Efficient and valid code. I've said several times, the Blogger code is very inefficient. It is understandable that more robust by the template system used, but several of its elements are overloaded or unhelpful code completely useless and talk about validating a task impossible.
4. Categories and labels.
The current classification system Blogger just use tags to a single level, ie can not create sub-labels to at least simulate the sub-categories of Wordpress. Having more than one form of classification is really useful blog grows, both the blogler to the user. 5. Control of the comments. While Blogger
took a big step by adding the feedback form to the same page, the date does not always work well. The management comments is completely manual, thus having to visit each post with new comments to respond. Nor do we have access to some data such as email commentator and IP. And going a little further, external services such as support gravatar. 6. Pages.
Wordpress is well differentiated in the use of "Changes" and "Tickets" or posts, the posts are for daily news, dynamic and static pages are for content such as "About, Contact, Advertising, Privacy Policy, etc. It is precisely this type of pages that do not exist at Blogger, or do a post with a last date or turn to an outside service. 7. Campos customized.
Although its use is not widespread in Wordpress, are an excellent tool to potentiate a blog and that is lost in Blogger. Since they can make things a little more complex quickly, a showcase or a "read more" to a model with examples of them.
8. Documentation. part Contrary to what happens in Wordpress, Blogger documentation is very poor and not updated, if to this we join the community of users to produce information is limited, it is understood the difficulty of this platform for anyone who carries a time using it and want to customize. 9. Image management. Creating galleries, image management from the Blogger control panel (currently using Picasa), Multiupload (for more than 5) and better image uploader.
